Benifits to Prepaid Credit Cards

By: http://www.prepaidcardguide.com/benefits.htm

Many families with teens and college students are choosing prepaid cards for the right balance of independent decision-making and parental controls.

  • Spending independence - You can use prepaid credit cards just like regular credit cards. Just find what you need, hand your card to the clerk, sign your name on the receipt, get a copy of the receipt and your card back--and you're done.

  • Convenience - Prepaid credit cards can be used everywhere Visa or MasterCard is accepted-at stores, gas stations, restaurants, theaters, in the mall and online.

  • Budgeting - You figure out in advance how you'll spend it: spending can be controlled by how much money is loaded. In addition, prepaid credit cards provide a simpler way to keep track of money vs. carrying cash.

  • Safer than cash - Unlike losing that twenty-dollar bill, with prepaid credit cards you're protected from unauthorized transactions if the card is lost or stolen. Cards can be replaced if lost or stolen.

  • Teaching tool - Prepaid credit cards help you or your teens learn financial responsibility and good money management skills. Prepaid credit cards are a hands-on tool that teaches teens about finances in a controlled environment. You can monitor the balance and where the card is used either by going to your password-protected website and reviewing the transaction history and online statement in detail or by telephone.

  • Security: If you are still uncomfortable giving the numbers of the card on the internet, the prepaid card is the answer. Since the card can be charged only up to the value of the pre-loaded fund, the thieves can not make an excessive charge using your card.

  • Gift giving - Parent-approved gift givers can also fund the card for generalpurpose spending or with virtual gift certificates for merchant-specific spending.

A Place for Mom

Brought to you by: Eldr.com

The largest referral service for eldercare is called “A Place for Mom” even though their free service is available for placing your dad, uncle, aunt or friend. We don’t exactly know the reason behind the name–whether it’s because more moms than dads end up needing care or because they started out providing services just for moms and were stuck with the name and URL when they expanded.

It doesn’t matter, because from our own experience we can tell you they are really good.

For one thing, they have a network of over 11,000 long-term care facilities (everything from homecare to assisted living to full-time dementia care providers) which can easily be geographically accessed.

They can answer your questions and teach you about your options, all at no charge to you. If you need this service now or think you might need it in the near future, it’s easy enough to check out: www.aplaceformom.com.

Benifits for Elderly Care:

By: Shannon Wakeland

Peace of Mind
  1. Home care for the elderly usually includes a trained person in the medical field. This professional may be a nurse or perhaps simply a caregiver, who is not an RN but can look after the elderly and offer any support they may need. This support may include feeding, bathing, exercise assistance and even just casual conversation time. Home care offers the peace of mind that someone else is able to help with the daily responsibilities that are required for elder care.
One-on-One Care
  1. Nursing homes can be helpful; however, home care offers care on a more personal level. One-on-one care can benefit the elderly by offering them hope and happiness. Most elderly people strive for company and conversation, which is what home care can offer them. A home caregiver will spend more time with them, offering care to match the needs of the elderly person. Instead of having to wait their turn to be fed, walked or supervised during a daily activity, a home caregiver is readily available.
Nutrition and Exercise
  1. Nutrition is very important, especially in the elderly. A home caregiver can make the time to produce healthy and nutritional meals as well as keep a close eye on the amount of food eaten by the elderly person. A daily exercise program can be implemented and followed through. Home care also has the benefit of someone always being around, especially if the elderly person is out walking about, becomes winded and faces the potential of falling and possibly breaking a bone.
Transportation
  1. Home care offers transportation to the elderly. The caregiver can take the person to and from the various appointments they may have. This benefits the family greatly by not worrying them over whom and when will take the person and where they need to go. Some elderly people rely on public transportation, which can be risky for those who suffer from physical disabilities, dementia or Alzheimer's disease. Home care ensures the safety of the elderly person when moving from one place to another.
Costs
  1. Nursing homes can drain a person's pocketbook in a very short time. Although home care costs can add up, it is usually cheaper than paying for a nursing home or even assisted living. More than likely, the person paying for the expense of home care will feel better about the money spent, as the care is more personalized and the quality of life is far beyond what it could be in a nursing home or assisted living facility.
